Interview with CBKtrxx

This time, we get to know CBKtrxx and have a leisurely time listening to his lo-fi pop tunes with airy synths.

CBKtrxx is a songwriter and producer in Sweden who makes retro electronic and alternative music. Some melancholy, warmth, synths and a retro flavor but still contemporary is what you will find in his music.

Where are you from?

What is your main genre?
Retro electronic / Chillwave

How long have you been making music?
A long time, I have been writing songs and played in bands, but CBKtrxx started 2020.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background behind it?
My latest is “Alibis”. It is me and an electric piano and lyrics that came naturally to the music. It is a little different to what I have done before and what I would normally do so I wasn’t sure if I should put it out there, but happy I did. It is a small song and a late evening feeling. For me at least. The 2 songs I did before that is “Bliss” and “Faith” and they are deeper into the electronic world where I usually am. Synthwave, chillwave, retrowave. “Faith” has some nice details with the chords and sounds so good. I am very proud of those songs.

What do you think of the music industry after 2022?
Musically I think you should be true to what you want to do and do that. Something honest. It is what really matters. There are some beautiful channels, playlists and places where you can reach an audience with your music. I think more people are finding their own favourite places here and there with YouTube channels, good Spotify curators and you can connect and find an audience there.

Who is the most influential artist in your life?
First time I ‘heard Clairo – Pretty Girl’ was huge. Elliott Smith, a lot of synth and new music is there too.

Who would be your dream collaboration?

What is your favorite song at the moment?
CBKtrxx – Faith

What other hobbies or interests do you have?
People, history, communication, F1. a lot of music.

Tell us more about your upcoming project?
I think there will be a new song or two coming out pretty soon. I have some mixing and deciding to do first.

Thank you CBKtrxx. We are looking forward to your upcoming project! will continue to support CBKtrxx.
